Manual Product Categorization

In case you have unchecked the manage category option in General Settings, the Manage Category Page will display a list of all categories existing in your system, along with their sub-categories. Here, you can add new categories and sub-categories that will be used with your products. In addition, you can also edit, add images, and delete required categories, and their subparts.

What is the difference between Manual and Automatic Categorization ?

In manual categorization, the user can create their own custom category and edit its details such as image, category name, subcategories, etc. while in automatic categorization, the categories are prefilled from the Jd Library based on the products entered into the system.

Add New Category

In case the list of categories and sub-categories available on the page does not match with your products, you can add a new category from this module.


1. From the Homepage, click on Products.

2. On the Products landing page, click on Manage Categories.

3. A list of all categories will be displayed. Toggle the Manual Categorization slider ON if it is OFF.

4. Click on Add New Category.

5. Enter a category name and click on Save.

6. Once you create a category, the following options get displayed:

  • Add Sub Category: It Lets you add a subcategory to the main category.
  • Edit: Let’s you to edit the category or the subcategory fields.
  • Hide: Enables you to hide the associated category from the website.
  • Filters: On clicking a slider menu opens up from which you can filter items based on their brand, variants, manufacturer, pricing, etc.
  • SEO: This lets you determine the ideal keyword search so that the products maintain online visibility on the website.
  • Move Up & Down: This allows you to shuffle the categorization order. You can move both main categories and sub-categories as well.
  • Delete: It lets you delete a particular category or subcategory.

 

7. You can also add images for a particular category or subcategory by clicking on Add, on the image icon.

The following pop up window gets displayed, with the following options:

  • Upload Image: Enables you to upload an image from your computer.
  • Add Image from URL: Enables you to paste the web link, containing the image.
  • Add from Library: Enables you to choose an image from the Jd library.

 

8. Upload the image and click on Save.


Important Note
This category will not be visible on your web store unless a product is added/associated with this category.

9. Click on Add Sub Category, if you want to add a subcategory to the main category. Enter the sub-category name and add an image if you wish.

Once created, the sub-category will look as follows.

You can add multiple sub-categories to a category.

10. You can hide a specific category or sub-category from your website by clicking on Hide.

11. You can choose whether you want to hide the associated products or not by enabling or disabling Hide Products associated with this category option. Click on Hide Category.

12. You will receive the following message on your screen. Click on Okay, I understand to proceed further.

The category and its subcategories get hidden. These hidden categories will not be display on the website any longer.

13. If you want to unhide the category, click on Show.

The category will reappear back on the website.

14. Similarly you can click on Show, for your subcategories as well.

15. You can add/edit the filters for the categories that are visible on your website as follows.

16. Click on Filters.

17. Click on Add New Filter.

18. Enter the filter name and click on Save

19. The filter details get created. Click on  to see the filter options.

Edit: You can edit the filter name.
Hide: This allows you to hide the filter
Delete: You can delete the filter with this option.

You can rearrange the filter order by dragging the scroll icon .

20. SEO plays an important role when it comes to online visibility. You can add SEO details to your categories and subcategories by clicking on the SEO option.

The following slider gets displayed.

1. Enter the page title which will appear on the Search Engine when a user searches for your products.
2. Enter a brief description for the page which will give the customer some information about the website without having to click on the website link.
3. Enter relevant keywords for the page which you think customers might use while searching for your product.
4. You can see a preview of how your website result will look on Google.

Click on Save once you have made the necessary changes.

21. If you wish to rearrange your categories or your sub-categories, you can click on Move Up or Move Down option.


Important Note
You can rearrange your sub-categories within the main category only.

22. If you want to view the products associated with the category, click on the category name.

23. Here you can add multiple display categories for a product by clicking on Add.

24. You can even edit an existing product category by clicking on the drop-down arrow.

25. You can also add new categories by clicking on Add New Category.

26. Click on Update All to save the changes.


Note

1. You can change the categories of multiple products simultaneously by first selecting the checkbox next to the products and then clicking on Change Category.

2. Select the Action Type as Add / Remove or Set to.

3. Upon selecting Add / Remove, enter the display categories for which, you want to either add or remove the product from their respective fields.

4. If you have selected the Set To option, you can either select an existing category or create a new one. Click on Save, once you have assigned a category to those products.

The following page gets displayed.

3. Tap on Add New Category.

4. To add a new category, you need to tap on New Parent Category.

5. Enter the category name in the given field.

6. If you want to add an image to the category, tap on the image icon.

You will receive the following options.

Gallery: You can upload an image from your device.
Camera: This will open your device camera and you can click a picture to upload.
Library: You can add images from the Jd Omni database by searching with the relevant keywords.
URL: This option allows you to add images from the internet by adding their URL.

7. Once you have added the category name and images, tap on Save.

You have successfully created a category.


Important Note
This category will not be visible on your web store unless a product is added/associated with this category.

8. To add a sub-category, tap on > Add Child.

9. Enter the category name and add an image as per your requirement. Click on Save to update the changes made.

Once created, the sub-category will look as follows.


Note
You can add multiple sub-categories to a category.

10. You can hide a specific category or sub-category from your website by tapping on Hide.

The following pop-up will be displayed.

You can choose whether you want to hide the associated products or not by enabling or disabling Hide Products associated with this category option.

11. If you want to unhide the category, tap on Unhide.

The category will again be visible on your website.

12.  If you want to add certain specifications for your category, tap on Filters.

13. Tap on Add New Filter.

14.  Enter the filter name and tap on Save.

15. Tap on  and the following options will be displayed.

Edit: You can edit the filter name.
Hide: This allows you to hide the filter
Delete: You can delete the filter with this option.

You can rearrange the filter order by dragging the .

16. SEO plays an important role when it comes to online visibility. You can add SEO to your categories and subcategories by tapping on SEO.

17. If you wish to rearrange your categories or your sub-categories, you can tap on  > Move Up or Move Down option.


Important Note
You can rearrange your sub-categories within the main category only.

18. If you want to view the products associated with the category, tap on the category name.

The following page gets displayed.

You can edit the product by tapping on that product name.


Please Note

You cannot edit products that have variants. You need to edit them from your computer.


Note

1. You can change the categories of multiple products simultaneously by pressing and holding over the products and then tapping on Category.

2. Upon selecting Add / Remove, enter the display categories for which, you want to either add or remove the product from their respective fields. Tap on Update All to complete the process.

3. If you have selected the Set To option, you can either select an existing category or create a new one. Tap on Update All, once you have assigned a category to those products.

Update Category

You can make changes in the categories which have been already created by you.


1. From the Homepage, click on Products.

2. Click on Manage Categories.

3. Hover over a category name and click on Edit.

4. Edit the category name and click on Save.

Similarly, you can edit the category filters and SEO details as well.

1. From the Homepage, tap on Products.

2. Tap on Manage Category.

The following page gets displayed.

3. If you want to update a category, tap on > Edit.

4. Now you can edit the category name and images and tap on Save.

Similarly, you can edit the category filters and SEO details as well.

Delete Categories

The Manage Product Category page allows you to delete any unwanted category/sub-category that is not required to be displayed on the website.


Important Note
In case you delete a category/sub-category that contains products that are associated with it, all these products will be moved to the Other category.

1. From the Homepage, click on Products.

2. Click on Manage Categories.

3. Hover over a category name and click on Delete.

4. A modal window gets displayed, asking you whether you want to delete the category or not. Click on Delete.

The category gets deleted.


Important Note

On deleting categories, its subcategories associated with them will also get deleted.

1. From the Homepage, tap on Products.

2. Tap on Manage Category.

The following page gets displayed.

3. To delete a category, tap on > Delete.

4. A Delete Category window appears, tap on Delete to complete the process.
